The Skill Every Employer is Looking For
Think about the last time someone helped you in a way that made you feel genuinely valued. That’s what great customer service looks like and it’s a skill that transforms careers. In almost every industry, from retail and healthcare to construction and technology, the ability to communicate well and treat people with respect and professionalism is one of the most sought-after qualities an employer can find.
At Elevate Training, our Customer Service course gives students the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to deliver outstanding service in any setting. It’s a course that not only improves career prospects — it develops the kind of self-assurance and interpersonal ability that makes a real difference in everyday life too
What’s Covered
Understanding Customer Service Students explore what customer service really means and why it matters both to businesses and to the customers they serve. They learn about different types of customers, what customers expect, and how meeting (and exceeding) those expectations builds loyalty and success.
Communication Skills Great customer service starts with great communication. Students develop verbal and non-verbal communication skills, learning how to listen actively, speak clearly and confidently, use appropriate language, and adapt their communication style to suit different people and situations.
Topics include:
- Face-to-face communication
- Telephone skills and etiquette
- Written communication — emails, messages, and correspondence
- Body language, tone of voice, and positive presentation
- Communicating with people from diverse backgrounds
Handling Enquiries and Requests Students learn how to respond to customer enquiries efficiently and helpfully providing accurate information, signposting appropriately, and following up to ensure satisfaction. They develop the confidence to handle a wide range of customer interactions professionally.
Dealing with Difficult Situations Even the most professional environments encounter challenging moments. Students learn how to remain calm and constructive when things go wrong handling complaints fairly, finding solutions, and turning a negative experience into a positive outcome.
Teamwork in a Service Environment Good customer service is rarely the work of just one person, it’s a team effort. Students explore how effective teamwork supports a positive customer experience, and develop the collaborative skills needed to work well alongside colleagues.
Professional Standards and Presentation First impressions count. Students learn about personal presentation, punctuality, workplace conduct, and the professional standards expected in customer-facing roles across a range of industries.
